Section 10: Stability and reactivity Many products tend to decompose or may react in a hazardous way with other substances. This section has to mention hazardous reactions, hazardous decomposition products and specific conditions to avoid (high tempertures, sources of ignition, water etc.). The VCI storage concept may provide some important hints about this topic. EXAMPLE MSDS for ACRYLONITRILE 10.STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Thermal decomposition: Unstable under heat and light; stabilisation is necessary prior to storage and trasportation. Suitable stabilising agents: anydrous ammonia, hydroquinone monomethyl ether (MHQ). Hazardous decomposition products: hydrogen cyanide may be formed during fire or thermal decomposition.Acrylonitrile DB example page |
