Within a domain of 2,400 km (optionally up to 4,000 km), CAMx 3D photochemistry is run on a daily basis in full photochemistry model
(CB05 chemistry model) for
driven by 3D non-hydrostatic meteorology, using MM5 model to downscale global weather forecasts (NOAA/NCET GFS data, or the corresponding re-analysis data for historical episodes), the examples show the expected downwind afternoon maxima, both at the urban scale (Tehran) as well as on a national scle with the oil and petrochemical industry areas dominant.
Emission sources for the ozone modeling include include:
228 major point sources, 560 area sources (which include about 120 petrol station in Tehran), and more than 11,000 line sources (Tehran street network) that include:
- 272 major cities (from which corresponding area sources have been derived, and including Tehran with a detailed emission inventory "within" the city)
- 86 major thermal power plants
- 78 major industries, including steel
- 58 cement plants
- 49 refineries and petrochemical plants
- 184 mining activities (coal and minerals)
- 90 airports
- 24 larger harbours
- 117 petrol stations (Tehran only)
